Crispy Buffalo wings with Sweet & Sour Molasses Sauce

 

Ingredients:
3 lbs Wings (Each wing cut into three)...
2 oz Lemon juice (for marinade)
2 Tbsp Salt (for marinade)
1/2 cup Baking Flour
1 Tbsp Baking Powder
1 Tsp Turmeric Powder
1/2 Tsp Cayenne Pepper
1/2 Tsp Garlic Powder
1/4 Tsp Paprika
Olive/ Coconut Oil (To drizzle over meat)

Ingredients for Sweet and Sour Molasses Sauce
Yields: (Appx. ½ cup) Cook: 5 Mins.

1/3 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
4 Tbsps Brown Sugar
1 Tbsp Ketchup
2 Tsp Soya Sauce
1 Tsp Molasses (exclude from recipe if you dislike molasses)
2 Tsp Cornstarch mixed with 4 tsp water
2 Tbsp Sweet Chilli Sauce
1 Tsp Red Pepper Flakes


Method for Chicken:

1)Fill a container with water and marinate chicken wings in lemon juice and 2 tbsp salt for 30 mins. Mix baking powder and flour in a small bowl, with the other spices and set aside.


2) Add all wings into a large bowl and coat them with the flour mixture.


3) Shake off excess flour and lay in a single layer in a baking rack skin-side up over a large roasting tray.


4) Put in the fridge for about 2 hours to dry out.
5) Pre-heat the oven to 450 deg. F.


6) Drizzle the wings with olive oil or coconut oil and bake for 35-40 minutes until deeply golden and crispy.


7) Remove from the oven and flip the wings over, drizzling oil on the second side, and continue baking until this side is golden brown and crispy, approximately 25-30 mins.

Method for Sweet and Sour Molasses Sauce:
1) Whisk the vinegar, brown sugar, ketchup, red pepper flakes and soy sauce and bring to a boil in a small pot over medium heat.


2) Add the molasses and continue stirring for 2 mins.


3)Whisk together the cornstarch and water, add to the other ingredients in pot, and stir to thicken.


4) Finally, add the sweet chilli sauce as the sauce begins to cool to slightly dilute the thickened sauce and add more flavor.


5) Serve and Enjoy with these wonderful Crispy Buffalo Wings See More
